Denyse Schmidt Event! June 2012

On June 22nd The Philly Modern Quilt Guild held a very special event where we had the pleasure of having Denyse Schmidt lecture and show us her quilts.

We had a packed room, with quilters traveling from as far as Virginia, DC, and Pittsburgh!

Her lecture was very in depth and candid. Everyone throughly enjoyed the entire night!

As a surprise for Denyse, our guild made quilts that either used Denyse Schmidt fabric, or that were inspired by her patterns/style... Or both!

We displayed them in the room and they all looked amazing!

Fabric bundles for sale!

...the room was filling up

Some very HAPPY CAMPERS!!! We couldn't wait to see Denyse!

"I am constantly in awe of the sewing talents of our guild.  I cannot count myself in the talented group but I am SUPER inspired by so many of you and the beautiful quilts and other sewing projects you create.  The quilts you displayed in honor of Denyse were just gorgeous."Sherrie Jenkins

"I enjoyed learning about the depth of Denyse's work in quilting, designing and marketing, and of course, seeing examples of her beautiful quilts! I'm sure it gave us all lots of inspiration along with insights into the life of a professional quilter/fabric designer. Thanks PMQG for this interesting event!" -Sue Morrison

"Thank you Andrew and Anna and everyone who helped put this together. The workshop was fantastic and I wish I could have gone to the lecture. 51 people! That's awesome! Definitely a great event for PMQG.- Becky Moyer

"I especially enjoyed how interested Denyse
was in each of our quilts. It seemed she really appreciated that we did that for her. I felt the pattern I used, ‘Stacking the Odds’ was more fussy than it had to be, but after talking to her I understand the vision she has for people using her patterns." - Cathy Fry

"This event was something you'd expect to be hosted by a much larger guild, but the small-but-mighty PMQG pulled it off with style. Many thanks to all who were involved, especially Andrew and Anna, for making this happen. You sure had a curve ball thrown at you at the last minute on Friday, but your determination, ingenuity, and brute strength (carrying all those chairs from the upstairs auditorium to the workshop in 90+ degree humidity) made it happen. Thank you so much!!!" -Pat Deck

After her lecture we did a "Show and Tell" with all of our new quilts.

Thank you to everyone who attended and made this event possible and to Denyse Schmidt for sharing your art, and inspiring all of us!
