About

The Philly Modern Quilt Guild held it's first meeting February 27, 2010.  Our monthly meetings draw between 30-40 active quilters from Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs.  While "modern quilting" can mean different things to different quilters, the two things we all share in the Philly MQG is a deep love for our craft and the desire to learn from those around us.   We have quilters who are new to their quilting journey, and others who have been at it for decades.

The Philadelphia Modern Quilt Guild hosts annual sewing retreats, sew-ins, guild sewing bees, lectures/workshops, and charity quilt auctions.  We also participate in national contests/challenges from The Modern Quilt Guild.  Learn more about becoming a member, here.

Modern Quilt Guilds are a community of quilt guilds across the country with a focus on modern design and quilting. Through blogs, the internet and meeting in person, we learn and share from each other and have a common goal of quilt making. The quilts we make vary from traditional patterns made with funky fabrics to out of the box piecing with no patterns. All types of quilts are encouraged and appreciated.
